Just so you know

Just so you know, while there will be mention of adult products, I'm not going to go into graphic details about anything. Even still, I realize that not everybody wants to read about adult products, so those will have a disclaimer at the top of each post :)

Converse Hi-tops

Ok, this one is probably not all that necessary, but I kinda wanted to write it anyway.  The iconic Chuck Taylors, All Stars, Converse, has been around for ages.  Like, my mom tells me stories about the pair she used to own when she was back in high school.  And she graduated high school in the late 70's.  I didn't get my first pair until right out of high school though.  My second semester of college, I was out trying to find a new pair for my boyfriend at the time, who just manages to destroy his on a regular basis.  I figured it was high time I got myself a pair too.

And I did.  Then a few months later I got another.  Then another after that.  And after that.  And before I knew it, I had managed to somehow collect quite a few pairs.  I've got your standard black (of course), and that's the very first pair I owned.  After about 4 or 5 years of fairly regular use during warmer months, I'm still on my first set of laces, the siding is starting to peel a little bit, and the fabric on the sole on the inside has started to peel, so I can feel it with my toes while I wear that pair, and it drives me crazy! But that's neither here nor there.  Apparently I'm just not all that rough with mine.

Converse's website lets you customize your own patterns and get great deals on items that are being discontinued, or you can find most of the basic designs in shoe stores like Famous Footwear, Payless, and Journeyz.  Their standard sizing includes US men's and women's, as well as UK and Europe.  Depending on the brand, I normally wear between a 6 and a 7 in US women's.  With Converse's low-tops, I opt for a women's 6 - 6 1/2.  High-tops I always get a 7 just for the extra toe room, but I walk right out of the lower cut ones in the same size.

These shoes are much better worn for fashion and not necessarily everyday wear.  There's really nothing in the way of arch support and they're absolutely horrid in any kind of adverse anything.  If it's chilly outside, you're going to feel it, and if it's wet, you'll feel that too. Either way, everybody should own at least one pair!

Couture Collection Bliss

***Disclaimer: This is a review for an adult toy.  There will be mention of adult body parts, the adult website that sent it to me, and all around adult topics.  If you're under 18 or this is something that might make you uncomfortable, please skip this post and move on to the next one***

I'm not new to the world of reviewing sex toys, but this is my first time reviewing one on my blog for the awesome sex shop I definitely trust. But enough with the formalities right now, and onto the toys!

Today I'm giving you a walk-through of the Bliss rechargeable egg bullet from California Exotics. The box it comes in is pretty nice, not very discreet, but still kinda cute.  It's covered in pictures of the whole setup inside the box, as well as descriptions.  When you open it up, you find the charging base (shaped like a heart, how freaking cute!), the rechargeable egg, the remote, and the little 12V battery that operates the remote.  The bottom of the box is actually removable and contains the charger as well as an attachment that makes it US friendly.

So before you can get started, you have to plug the charging cord into the back of the charging base, then plug that into the wall, and drop the egg right into the little dent in the base.  While it's charging, a light on the charging base as well as the single button on the bullet will both glow red.  Once the bullet is charged, its light turns green and you can start playing.

To start playing, first you have to press and hold the on/off button on the bullet for a few seconds until it turns green.  I couldn't figure this one out on my own, my fiance did. And I even read the poor excuse for an instruction manual! But that's neither here nor there.  Make sure you turn it on before you insert it (if that's what you're going to do), because otherwise you're gonna have to pull it out and start over again.  To bring the bullet out of 'standby mode', just press and hold that same button again until it flashes red.

Once the bullet itself is on, you can start playing with the remote.  Control it yourself, give it to your significant other, or even to some random stranger on the bus! Working it is really easy, just press the on/off button on the remote to start you at the lowest setting, and then the button with the funny symbol on it underneath that to flip through the vibrations.  In total there are 7 different vibrations: low, medium, high, escalation, pulsing, faster pulsing, and an escalating pulse.  You can cycle all the way through each level multiple times without turning the vibrations off, and if you hit the off button and turn it back on, you'll be right back at the beginning each time. The vibrations themselves are on the higher side of medium pitched and feel more surfacey than rumbly, but are still nice all the same. Even on the highest vibration level it's still pretty quiet.  A little louder than a cell phone, but closing the door and getting under the covers will definitely hide the noise.

The bullet, the remote, and the base are all made of the same really nice velvety plastic. The bullet itself is pretty hefty in size, but not weight, coming in at about 2 1/2" long and about 5" around at its widest.  It's smooth to the touch and has virtually no drag to it whatsoever. Since it's plastic, it's safe for your body and you can use any water based or silicone based lube you want, and since it's waterproof, you can wear it, use it in the shower or tub, and cleaning is a breeze.  Just wash in the sink with your favorite toy cleaner, or some antibacterial soap.  Make sure to clean that 4" long retrieval cord pretty well too, since it's made of a nylon-type string and can absorb fluids and things like that.  Try not to get the remote wet, since that's not waterproof at all. As for storing it goes, you can feel free to keep the whole thing in a nightstand drawer if you want.  You're going to have to try to do any real damage to anything here.

There's a few different ways you can use this bullet.  You can use it for the stimulation and teasing of the clitoris, nipples, or any other erogenous zone.  You can insert it vaginally and wear it out and about, vibrating away for pleasure, or even to remind you to do your kegels.  Or you can use it as a little massage aid. The vibrations lend themselves quite well to the production of "itchy fingers" so keep that in mind as well.  No matter how you choose to use it, you should avoid trying to put it in your butt, for any reason.  Since there's no flared base, it could easily get sucked in and you really don't want to have to explain that to a doctor.

A huge thank you to EdenFantasys for sending this to me to review.  If you'd like to give this amazing rechargeable and wireless egg a try, hop on over to Eden and buy it today! And if you use the code EW4 at the checkout, you can save 15% off your entire order.  Happy shopping!

Sneak Peeks

Hey everybody, I wanted to give you a little taste of what's to come in the (hopefully) near future.  I'll be giving you my first blog review of an adult toy in the next week or so! Isn't that exciting! Well, if you don't find that exciting, you might find some new candles or massage oil or even some awesome fleece leggings to be a bit more exciting.  I'm really excited about the fleece leggings myself, I mean come on, they're soft and squishy and uber comfy. I think the only down side is that they're not going to fit a lot of people.  Maybe we'll get lucky and I can talk my fiance into trying them on to see how big you can be and comfortably wear them.  And if not, then there's still the awesome candles to read about!

PS: There will be a shredder too.  I'm not sure when.  But expect it.  You have been informed.

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

Hey y'all! Jul!a here, and I just wanted to wish everybody out there reading a Happy Thanksgiving.  I'll be spending mine with my sister and grandmother, while my fiance stays back at home with my mom and both of our families there.

This is the time of year that we all come together with our families (even if those families are just made up of close friends) and be thankful for everything that we do have.  Life is not about having the most, being the best at everything, or always having to win.  Life is about being happy with what you do have, and making the most of the time we have on this planet.  So go forth, wish somebody else a wonderful holiday, and enjoy yours as well!

Triple Moisture Body Cream - Bath and Body Works

Dry skin has long plagued me.  Most lotions either don't cut it, leave me feeling greasy, or I can't stand the way they smell.  I think I've finally found a solution.

The triple moisture body cream from bath and body works is one of my vices.  I own, well, a whole bunch of them.  If Bath and Body Works didn't keep having an awesome sale (buy 2 get 1, buy 3 get 2) every time I happened to be in there, I might not own so many.  But the fact of the matter is, I've got a lot.  They just come in so many awesome scents! I just can't help it! Seriously, there's one for just about everybody.  And if you find a scent in this (or any of their other products) that you absolutely love, they've got whole sets in every scent too.  Body wash, a few lotions, body butter, perfume, body spray, etc.  But I'm not here to talk to you about those, I'm here to talk to you about the triple moisture cream.

8 ounce tubes designed "upside down" let you store the lotion so that it's always ready to be dispensed, and always easy to read.  The consistency of the lotions is real nice too.  Not runny at all, it's not quite as thick as say, Vaseline, but it'll stay even if you tip your hand upside down.

It sinks into the skin pretty nicely and only leaves you feeling "too lotiony" if you manage to put too much on.

Something all the scents I own have in common is their ability to be lightly smelled for hours and hours, and if you put it on then get dressed, those clothes will smell like your lotion for a while too.  Not a bad thing if you love the scent, but just something to keep in mind.

You can buy these, and all their other products, either on their website or at any of their stores nationwide.  At $12 a bottle for 8 ounces, the pricing isn't the greatest, but this stuff does work for most people.  I use it year round, and recommend it highly.

Almay Makeup Remover

Ok, I'll admit, I'm horrible at remembering to remove my makeup.  I fully admit that I sleep in it just about every night, although in my defense, I really only wear eyeliner and the occasional eye shadow.  But I've still been able to use this many times to remove even a few weeks of built up eyeliner.

Almay has a few different versions of makeup remover, and I chose this one because it's oil free.  Anybody ever try the ones that aren't? Better remove your makeup before taking a shower or washing your face, because that's about the only way you're gonna get that awful residue off.  Well you don't have that problem with this one.  Sure you can't wipe your eye down and expect to put fresh makeup on it again right away, but if you wipe it dry with a Kleenex and wait a few minutes, you can, which is really nice if you messed something up and need to be able to redo it.

In addition to being oil free, the formula that they use is also very nourishing, at least to those who don't have any allergies or sensitivities to aloe, cucumber, or green tea.  The jar makes the claim of being hypoallergenic, but a select few might still have problems.

The pads themselves are pretty decently sized, easily enough to take care of one eye, or even both if your makeup is fairly light.  As you can see to the left, they're pretty thin too.  What's nice about that is that you can use up one side, fold it in half, then keep using it.

I know now you're really curious to see just how well it actually works.  Well, it takes care of just about everything.  Over there on the right, from top to bottom, I have my Maybelline Unstoppable eyeliner, a shade of eyeliner from Mary Kay, the second black smudge and the brownish one underneath are both the same cream based eyeshadow that I've managed to get to stay flawless for a few days, so I wanted to show that here too, and the silver is part of a cheap eyeshadow kit I picked up from Walgreens.  It lasts pretty well, a day or two if you don't rub much.

Curious to see what happened? Well over there on the left is an after picture.  You can see that it took care of the regular eyeshadows with no problem whatsoever.  The eyeliner didn't take much work to get off.  But that cream based eyeshadow took work.  I had to scrub to get it off.  But wouldn't you know, I managed to get most of it!

And I even managed to get the rest of it off all by using just one pad.  So unless your entire makeup collection consists of the heaviest duty makeup you can find, you shouldn't have a problem using this either.

I looked around on the internet to see if I could see where all it was sold.  I know I've purchased it from Walmart, but based on the pricing I saw on the internet for it from Walmart, that was a bad idea.  You should also be able to find it at Target and a few other brick and mortar stores.  If not, you can definitely get it from Amazon for just over $5.

Maybelline Unstoppable Eyeliner

Seriously unstoppable.  Maybelline advertises that it won't smudge at all, but it does a little bit. However, unless you're rubbing on it during the day, it will last the entire day, and into the night. I mean, if you don't take it off at night, it's still there in the morning.  Bleeds a little bit if worn in the shower, but nothing a skilled swipe with a Q-tip can't handle.

This eyeliner comes in black, brown, green, and blue.  I've got the black, and my only complaint with it is that it's a bit fragile.  I'm on my second in as many months, because the first broke and I didn't realize how much more there was, so I pitched it and bought another.

I was surprised at how much there actually is to be able to twist out, even after this one broke too (I think I just have a bad habit of dropping them or something), there was still an inch and a half or so of eyeliner left.  Much more than I've seen brand new from other brands that don't work as well or last half as long.

It's creamy texture goes on nice and smoothly and doesn't 'skip'.  While the back of the packaging seems to indicate that by twisting the eyeliner out of the applicator you'll get a fine point every time.  As you can see by the picture here, that's obviously not the case.  However the edge will still allow you to get a pretty clean and fine line.  You won't get the precision of something like a liquid liner, but you're also not waiting 15 minutes for it to dry so you can open your eyes again.

It's available at all sorts of different retailers, both online and brick and mortar, in the cosmetics section.  I've purchased mine at both Walgreens and Mariano's (a local store), but the internet seems to indicate that you can even buy it at Walmart if you so choose.  It's about $6.99 at Walgreens, but for all the product you're getting and how well it works, I really don't feel bad about having spent the money.

Shunga Bath and Body Wash

***Slight disclaimer: while this is not an adult product, I personally purchased it from an adult website and will be mentioning that during the review, please proceed accordingly***

That aside, the wonderful people of Shunga have brought you another wonderful product.  Shunga tends to specialize in edible products that promote sexuality as well as sensuality, giving us here, an edible body wash.  While it is indeed edible, it still has a soapy aftertaste.  To me, that means that while I'm not going to actively lick it off myself or my fiance, I don't mind so much if I accidentally get some in my mouth, because I've done that showering.  Don't ask me how, I just have.

What you're getting here is 16 ounces of good, clean, yummy smelling fun.  You can purchase either the Sensual Mint, or the Exotic Fruits.  I've got the Exotic Fruits and I just love it.  To me, it smells a lot like a fruit smoothie, although I can't pinpoint any specific fruit other than bananas.  It lathers as well as just about any "traditional" body wash might, although I've found I have to use close to a half dollar size dollop, as well as a specific squeezing action with my hand while lathering my skin, to get a good lather going.

There's no real need to be worried about getting 'busted' with this either.  Unless the picture on the right is too risque, this bottle should only stick out in your shower because it happens to be pretty big. It has a consistency similar to that of shampoo: stays easily in a cupped hand, but also runs if you tilt your hand on an angle.

It should also last you a long time too, I've been using mine once or twice a week for about 5 months now and as you can see from the picture over on the left, I've still got a whole bunch left in the bottle.

I also wanted to give you the list of ingredients, as those of you with sensitivities or allergies to glycerin, aloe vera, or aspartame might want to not pick this body wash up.

Now while I purchased (and reviewed) mine from EdenFantasys (a really great sex positive community), you can also purchase it directly from Shunga's website, and I'm sure a whole host of other online as well as brick and mortar outlets.

Sinful Colors Nail Polish

Here we are, my very first product review for you! I spent a long time trying to figure out exactly what it would be, but here it is at last, my favorite brand of nail polish, and chosen to share with you because it rocks so hardcore I couldn't resist a chance to tell the world all about it.

So I'll start out with a little blurb about the bottle itself, a unique rounded shape that makes it stand out in your collection of nail polish (unless your collection happens to be made entirely of Sinful Colors).  The caps are all a nice matte black and I have yet to have a problem with them getting stuck on, as some nail polishes have a very bad habit of doing.

There are so many colors to choose from as well, I've only got a small sample up top to show you, but I'll be adding more in the future.  Colors range from pearls to glitters to just straight up colors with nothing fancy, and look just stunning with a nice clear top coat.  Over there on the right is an example of one of the more pearly ones, named Love Nails.  That's another awesome thing about these polishes, they all have cute names.  Well, okay, maybe not all of them, but a lot of them do.  Classics like What's Your Name and Dream On and Snow Me White, to less creative ones like Tokyo Pearl and HD Nails. For the absolute best results, you should wait a good 20 minutes or so between applying the color and applying the top coat, since that will help reduce the amount of random air bubbles you might get, and leave you with a more flawless color.

Okay, now I wouldn't be ranting and raving about these polishes if they didn't hold up, so before you ask me "ok, so just how long do these last?", let me tell you.  I've gotten a good two weeks between polish changes.  And I'm not talking "oh, there's still some chips that haven't come off yet" left, I'm talking full on could have painted my nails yesterday and you'd never know.  And I deliver and work with a lot of car parts.  So for this stuff to survive being beat on all day every day, for two weeks, and have barely a chip to show for it, I'm really impressed.  The first time I went to remove this polish, after being really surprised that it lasted 2 weeks, I was expecting to have to fight to get all of it off to do a color change.  Nope.  Came off just fine with regular old nail polish remover.

And I haven't even gotten to the best part yet.  The best part is that in addition to all the cutesy names and the amazing last time, these are only $1.99.  Yes, I said $1.99.  You can stop staring at the screen, pick your jaw up off the floor, and remember to breath.  And available all over the place too.  Most notably at Walgreens, so you can go just down the street, get awesome colors, for an awesome price, and outlast the $30 manicure!
